This site sets analytics cookies only if you agree to them. Nothing is stored on your device until you choose Accept on the cookie banner. Choose Reject, or ignore the banner entirely, and no cookies are set — the site behaves exactly the same either way.

Your choice

The first time you arrive, a banner asks whether Google Analytics may store cookies on your device. Accept and Reject are presented with equal weight, and rejecting costs you nothing: no feature is withheld, no content is hidden, and you are not pestered again on the next page.

That clears the answer we stored, switches analytics cookies back off, deletes any that had been set rather than leaving them to expire on their own, and shows you the banner again for a fresh decision.

The law this sits under

Regulation 6 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 was replaced on 5 February 2026 by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025. Regulation 6(1) now says that a person must not store information, or gain access to information stored, in the terminal equipment of a subscriber or user, subject to Schedule A1. Schedule A1 sets out the gateways that make storage or access lawful, and consent is one of them.

Google Analytics stores cookies, so we rely on the consent gateway for it — that is what the banner is for. The cookie-free measurement described below stores nothing and reads nothing back, so it does not engage regulation 6 at all and runs for every visitor. The Information Commissioner's Office has said its guidance in this area is under review following the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, and this page will be updated as that guidance is published.

Cookies set if you accept

Both are first-party cookies set by Google Analytics 4. If you reject, neither is created. No advertising cookies are set under any circumstances.

How visits are measured

Two things measure this site, and they are on different footings.

Clicky, operated by Roxr Software Ltd, runs for everyone. It is configured so that it sets no cookies and creates no identifier on your device. Because nothing is stored, visits cannot be linked together: repeat visits from the same person are counted separately, and no profile is built over time. It records the page visited and the time, the site or search engine you arrived from where your browser sends it, an approximate country or city derived from your IP address, and your browser, operating system and device type.

Google Analytics 4, operated by Google Ireland Limited, runs only if you accept. It records broadly the same things, plus which links you click, and it uses the cookies above to recognise a returning visitor and to hold a visit together across pages. We have turned off Google Signals and ad personalisation for this property, so the data is not used to build advertising audiences. Event data is deleted after 14 months.

Google acts as our processor for this and we have accepted Google's data processing terms, which include the safeguards relied on for transfers outside the UK.

What is not collected

• No advertising or cross-site tracking of any kind
• No marketing profile, and no data sold or shared with advertisers
• No health information. Nothing you enter into a consultation form is used for analytics

Applying for a certificate

Applications are completed on medicalcert.co.uk, which is a separate website operated by MedicalCert. That site sets its own cookies and publishes its own cookie and privacy notices. This policy covers sportsmedicalcertificate.co.uk only, and the choice you make on our banner does not carry across to it.

Blocking analytics entirely

Enabling a do not track setting in your browser, or a Global Privacy Control signal, stops both analytics scripts from loading at all — not just the cookies, the scripts themselves are never requested, and you will not be shown the cookie banner because there is nothing left to ask. Any browser extension that blocks analytics scripts has the same effect. Blocking does not affect your ability to read the site or to apply for a certificate.

Checking this for yourself

You do not have to take our word for it. Open your browser's developer tools and look under storage or application. Before you answer the banner, and after rejecting, you will see no cookies for this domain. After accepting, you will see the two listed above and nothing else.
